Updates

How to update the V2RayTun panel and nodes to the latest version.

Updating the Panel

The v2raytunsetup CLI handles panel updates. It pulls the latest Docker images, applies any database migrations, and restarts services.

Bash
v2raytunsetup update

What Happens During an Update

  1. The latest Docker images are pulled (backend, frontend, caddy).
  2. Running containers are stopped gracefully.
  3. Database migrations run automatically.
  4. All services restart with the new images.

Typical downtime is under 30 seconds.

Pre-Update Checklist

  • Back up first — run v2raytunsetup backup before updating.
  • Check disk space — ensure at least 2 GB of free space for new images.
  • Review the changelog — check the GitHub releases (opens in a new tab) for breaking changes.

Updating Nodes

Nodes are updated independently of the panel.

Option 1 — Re-deploy from the Panel

  1. Go to Nodes in the panel and select the node.
  2. Click Regenerate Compose to get the latest docker-compose.yml.
  3. SSH into the node and replace the file.
  4. Pull and restart:
Bash
cd /opt/v2raytun-node
docker compose pull
docker compose up -d

Option 2 — Pull and Restart

If the compose file has not changed, simply pull updated images:

Bash
cd /opt/v2raytun-node
docker compose pull
docker compose up -d

Verifying the Update

Panel

Bash
v2raytunsetup version

Or check the version displayed in the panel footer.

Node

Bash
docker compose ps
docker compose logs --tail 20

Confirm the node shows Online in the panel.

Rollback

If an update causes issues:

  1. Stop the services: v2raytunsetup stop
  2. Restore from backup: v2raytunsetup restore /opt/v2raytun/backups/backup-TIMESTAMP.tar.gz
  3. Start services: v2raytunsetup start
